1. Âm và chữ CH ch - Sound & letters CH ch

♦ Phát âm ch [c] – Pronouncing ch [c]

Ch [c] is a palatal voiceless stop consonant in the production of which the tongue tip is down near the backs of the lower teeth and the contact is made by the blade against the hard palate: cha, chờ, chủ. The final consonant [ch] follows the front vowels i, ê, e, for example: chích, ếch, etc.

♦ Chính tả - Spelling

Ch can combine with all nuclear vowels and the labialization u/o; it can be the initial or final consonants.

When Ch is the final consonants [c] may have only two tones - either: "sắc" (high-rising) or "nặng" (low-falling broken).

2. Âm và chữ NH nh - Sound & letter NH nh 

♦ Phát âm nh [ɲ] - Pronouncing nh [ɲ]

Nh [ɲ] is a palatal nasal consonant, which is created with the tip of the tongue being lowered toward the lower teeth and the back of the tongue rising toward the hard palate and contacting it: nha, nhờ, nhủ.

♦ Chính tả - Spelling

Nh can combine with all nuclear vowels and the labialization u/o; it can be the initial or final consonants.

When following the front vowels i, ê, e, the finals ng and c are made partly in the palatal region to agree in place of articulation with the preceding vowels; therefore, they are slightly palatalized and written as nh.
